The Mattoon Exchange Club is pleased to have honored Steve Thompson’s dedication to historical preservation and community service by posthumously presenting him with the 2021 Book of Golden Deeds award, given annually to those unsung heroes among us who have gone the extra mile in service to their community.   The award was accepted by Steve's widow, Kathy Thompson, during the annual awards banquet held October 6th at the Mattoon Golf and Country Club
